Princess Taibat Adeyemi, a former commissioner of Oyo state and daughter of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamide Adeyemi, has honored her late father by marking her birthday today in his outfit.

The princess revealed she wore his outfits to show how much she misses him.

“The saying goes “you never know what you have until you lose it” not in my case, I’ve always known, I’ve always known how much you loved me. I’ve always known what you meant to me. I’ve always known who you are and I am who I am today because of all you’ve
taught me.

In celebration of my birthday today I will like to honor my father, it’s only fitting that I wear HIS CLOTHES, HIS CANE. Hmmm Saying I miss you is an understatement of the Century. Each big event reminds me of what I’ve lost. Ileya , mother’s birthday, my birthday, your birthday. I keep wondering when It’ll truly feel to celebrate things again ( like I use to before ) everything is different now..HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME” Princess Taibat Adeyemi wrote.

Alaafin, who was the third from the Alowodu Ruling House, died in the late hours of Friday, April 22nd at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the late Alaafin of Oyo was given a befitting celebration of life ceremony weeks after,

The ceremony caused a stir online when videos of the statue erected for the late monarch made rounds on the internet.

At first glance, many would think that it was the Alaafin, but with a closer look, you could see that it was a statue erected for him.

According to a netizen, it is the tradition in Yorubaland that a replica of a king be made and placed in the palace for 3 weeks or more till the regent is picked and the statue is what is buried.
